Ukiyo-e – or Japanese woodblock prints depicting the colourful and fleeting lives of merry-making and debauched actors of 18th-century Edo Japan – is reinterpreted afresh here.

In an exhibition inspired by Toshusai Sharaku, a foremost ukiyo-e practitioner of his era, Japan’s most exciting graphic designers and visual artists re-articulate his famous masterpieces two hundred years after his time, using the latest techniques, expressions and aesthetics of the 21st century.

Organised by the Japan Foundation and supported by the Japan Embassy in Singapore.
